This is the first convertible with P-90s… and not any P-90s, Jason Lollars!!! I worked on the multi-laminated core for a long time and kept it for a special project… here it is! The core has five layers (cedar, mahogany and Douglas fir); the top and back are striped mahogany (great wood). The neck is made of flame maple and mahogany. Electronically speaking, a volume, a tone, a pick-up selector and a custom 9 position varitone.

Lorsque j’ai rencontré Jason Lollar, je lui ai demandé s’il pouvait me fabriquer des P-90s qui pourraient être installés sur une guitare chambrée mais qui n’auraient pas les ailettes des “dog ears”… voici le résultat! J’ai donc terminé une guitare que j’avais commencée il y a longtemps. Le coeur est multi-laminé, le manche est en érable tigré et elle sonne comme ça se peut pas!!!

The top and back wood of this XXL-018 is gorgeous… and hard to capture in photos!!! The waves in this mahogany are really sensuous! The core is a lamination of pine and mahogany. The neck is a three-piece lamination of flamed maple and mahogany. The fretboard is bookmatch honduras rosewood. Electronically speaking, the humbuckers are from Seymour Duncan and the controls include volume, tone, switch and a 9 position varitone circuit. Tonewise, this guitar wants to rock!

Cette XXL a tout pour elle, le look et le son!!! Elle adore la distortion et la OCD est son amie! Si on préfère le blues, la Moller de T-Rex sait la faire chanter!

Here is a BlueBurst XXL… Hard to take good photos of the color. There is definitely less green than shown in the pictures. This is my classic Bigsby-P90s (Lollar) combo. The cream binding on both the top and back matches the PU covers and the Ivoroid knobs. The body is Douglas Fir with mahogany top and back. The neck is a bookmatched piece of maple. The bridge is a Schaller roller bridge and the Bigsby tailpiece is mounted on a Vibramate plate. This guitar may thus be converted to a conventional stop tailpiece. On the electronics side, we have a volume-tone-varitone combination. The fatness of Jason Lollar’s P-90s makes this guitar perfect for blues and for rock! Since the neck PU is RWRP, noise cancellation occurs when both P-90s are inline. Heavy distortion may thus be used at will without any muddyness!

C’est de cette guitare que j’ai eu le plus de commentaires à la 3e édition du Salon de la Guitare de Montréal. Tout le monde adorait la couleur bleue et ceux qui l’ont essayée ont bien aimé la versatilité de ce modèle! Mais elle n’est pas encore vendue…!!!…

C’est ce qui est en train de devenir la XXL classique… Bigsby, P-90 de Lollar, “single-cut”, binding… Cette fois-ci, pas de couleur, pas de burst. La simplicité qui SONNE !
